The Epstein first graders took on the challenge of discovering the properties of light during their study of Hanukkah. Students were asked to solve the problem of what might happen if the power went out? How could they make light with household objects to create their own miracle of light? Then, they related this to the challenges of the Maccabees. Students engaged in a study about electricity and circuits and then watched this video together to guide them through creating the flashlight.
